How your anonymity is protected
This page does not only make promises. The checks below run against the live system, and the lists of what is stored are read from the database itself.
In short
- Your answers are stored with no link to you.
- The university records only that you have given feedback for a course, so reminders stop.
- Staff see results only after the feedback window closes, only as combined totals, and only when at least 5 students have responded.
- Nobody can edit, withdraw or look up a submission. That is part of what keeps it anonymous.
Checked live
Last checked 20 Oct 2026, 02:04. The checks repeat at least every five minutes.
- Passed: Your answers are saved with no name, roll number, email, device or time.
- Passed: Each individual answer carries no information about who gave it.
- Passed: Answers are labelled with random codes that cannot be traced back to you.
- Passed: The record that you gave feedback stores only a date, never a time of day.
- Passed: The record that you gave feedback is not linked to your answers.
- Passed: That record holds nothing beyond who, which course and the date.
- Passed: No administration screen can list anyone's individual answers.
- Passed: Results can never be shown for fewer than three responses.
- Passed: The minimum currently set is at or above that floor.
- Passed: Every finished feedback window locked in its minimum when it closed.
- Passed: Answers were shuffled after submission, so storage order cannot point to you.
- Passed: Participation counts were frozen when each window closed.
- Passed: Completion records are deleted once the retention period is over.
- Passed: The number of answers and of completions agree, so nothing is lost or duplicated.
What is stored when you submit
These lists are generated from the database definition, not typed by hand. If a column were ever added, it would appear here.
Your answers
| Column | What it holds |
|---|---|
Response.id | A random code, not derived from you or from the time. |
Response.cycle | Which course's feedback window this belongs to. |
Response.questionnaire_version | Which version of the questions was shown. |
Answer.id | A random code. |
Answer.response | The random code of the submission this answer belongs to. |
Answer.question | Which question this answers. |
Answer.offering_instructor | Which instructor the question is about, if it is about one. |
Answer.value_int | Your rating. |
Answer.value_text | Your written comment. |
Answer.is_hidden | Whether staff hid a comment that was inappropriate. |
The record that you took part
| Column | What it holds |
|---|---|
SubmissionRecord.id | A counter, so each record has a unique number. |
SubmissionRecord.student | Who has given feedback, so reminders stop and nobody submits twice. |
SubmissionRecord.cycle | Which course's feedback window. |
SubmissionRecord.submitted_on | The date only. No time of day. |
Neither list has a column that points to the other. That missing link is what keeps your answers separate from your name.
Enforced in the code, but not shown live
- Submitting does not write what you answered to any log.
- Student pages load no outside scripts, fonts or analytics.
